We have partnered with a family in the Sierra Norte region of Oaxaca to make sustainable pasilla mixe chili. The Vásquez and Diaz families have had the farm for more than 150 years, and have been producing pasilla mixe for the last 40.
The Vásquez and Diaz farm is remote even by rural Mexico standards. It takes several hours to drive to the nearest village, but since almost no one in the village has a car, the journey takes 6-8 hours on foot. By working together with the Jilotepec community, we are able to help this small remote family of farmers sustain their village. Every time you buy a product with pasilla mixe in it, this community will benefit.
