Michelada with Fiery Habanero Sauce

Preparation time:

  • 5 minutes in total

Serves: 1 person

Ingredients

  • Tajín seasoning, salt, or tamarind candy for the rim
  • Mexican lager beer (see author notes)
  • 3-4 splashes of Vera Mexicana Fiery Habanero Sauce (more or less to taste)
  • 2 splashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 splashes soy sauce
  • Juice of 1 lime

Description

Whether you’re in need of a cocktail with a kick or a cure for your New Year’s hangover - we got you! Michelada is kind of like a Bloody Mary, but made with beer. A tangy and spicy concoction made with lime and chili is like medicine to a hangover. It’s refreshing, and as far as we’re concerned, it’s good for you!

Steps

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip in your preferred spices such a tajín, salt or, in our case, tamarind candy.
  2. Fill the glass with ice cubes and add tomato juice, 3-4 splashes of a Vera Mexicana hot sauce of your own choice, 2 splashes of Worcestershire, 2 splashes of soy sauce and the juice of 1 lime.
  3. Top with your favorite Mexican beer. ¡Salud!

Author notes

We used Modelo for this recipe, but you can opt for Corona or Sol – or any of your favorite lagers (pilsners).

Tajin is a mix of salt and chili powder that is very popular in Mexico. However, it can be found in some specialty stores outside of Mexico. If you cannot find it, you can sub it with salt!
